New nonprofit uses innovative strategy to tackle the homeless crisis

PORTLAND, OR, October 23, 2019 --- Local non-profit aims to take a stand in the Portland homeless crisis.

Hope for the Homeless Foundation (HHF) will host an evening fundraising event to support grassroots organizations in the Portland metro area tackling the underlying causes of homelessness and helping men, women, and families lead stable lives.

On Saturday, November 9, 2019, HHF Board Members and their guests will gather at the Multnomah Athletic Club at 7:00 p.m. to announce their new foundation’s innovative strategy for tackling the homeless crisis.

“We all know homelessness is growing in the Portland area and many of us are frustrated that much of the effort is tied up in bureaucracy, is not cost-effective, and has limited results. How can the average person know which organizations to support?” says Doug Marshall, co-founder and President of Hope for the Homeless Foundation.

Recognizing this dilemma, Hope for the Homeless Foundation’s mission is to identify grassroots organizations that are effectively helping the homeless regain stability in their lives. “Our plan is to diligently vet organizations, to raise funds throughout the year, and then distribute these funds to those organizations our contributors choose to support. We will identify which organizations are the most effective so you don’t have to,” says Jerry Mason, board member.

HHF wants to act with an approach that encourages cost-effective, focused innovation. The board is made up of Portland area residents, many of which have over twenty-five years of commitment helping and supporting the homeless. They are excited to share their vision with a broader audience. All are welcome to come to the November 9th fundraising event. Please RSVP to:
