Questions

Question: Why would someone donate to HHF when they could donate directly to an organization?

Answer: Donating directly to an organization is a terrific option.  It can be hard to know for sure that an organization is focused on actually helping people obtain housing AND stability to keep that housing. For those donors who do not have the time to do the research, we have a network of people willing to do that work for you.  You can donate with peace of mind that we have done our homework.

Question: Is the money donated this year being saved for next year like it was last year?

Answer: No. All money collected this year will be combined with the funds that were collected throughout this past year to be given away once our donors choose how they will be allocated.

Question: Do you have a minimum donation you are accepting this year?

Answer: We do not have a minimum donation requirement.  Nor do we have a maximum.  Every dollar is that is contributed is important and will positively affect someone who is homeless.

Question: How do you expect HHF to grow over this next year?

Answer: In a nutshell, it is word of mouth.  We are depending on all of you to talk to your friends, family, co-workers and associates and tell them about HHF.  We have a goal to distribute 1 million dollars in year 5. Please help us to do that.

Question: How can donors help, other than making a financial contribution?

Answer: We would love for you to invite us to your group or club to present the vision of HHF. We also invite you to join us during our vetting process as we meet with organizations. And please let others now about HHF.

Question:  Could the same nonprofit win year after year?

Answer: Potentially the same nonprofits could be chosen, but we anticipate after the COVID restrictions are relaxed more nonprofits will respond to our vetting invitation.  Also, HHF has a successful track record of fundraising in this, our first year, so that should encourage more nonprofits to participate.

Question: What percentage of our donations goes to overhead costs?

Answer: Expenses as of September 30 are 4.4 percent of total donations. That means that 95.6 of total donations to that point will go to the organizations we have chosen to receive funds this year.
